Alex Pedder BA Hons MNAEA MARLA - Managing Director/shareholder

Having left Nottingham University Business School, Alex joined the Wates Group on a graduate programme. He moved to this estate agency business setting up a highly successful Land and New Homes department specialising in the disposal of development opportunities and the sale of new homes. Alex then took a more involved role in the development of the company progressing to Director level and on to Managing Director. In this role he has executed a substantial change programme across the organisation optimising the structure, marketing and operational practices of the business creating a attractive, profitable and progressive company. Alex has a passion for the industry and sectors in which he works. In his spare time he enjoys socialising, golf, tennis, personal fitness, skiing, motor cars, powerboats and watersports.

Alan Pedder CBE AMIMechE - Chairman/shareholder

Alan is a mechanical engineer by profession with a long career in ICI where he was CEO of a number of global businesses. He has held a number of non-executive directorships including Chairman of AECI Ltd. and Remploy Ltd. and currently Baronsmead VCT4 plc. Public appointments have included IDAB, BTC and London South Bank University. He has also acted as a consultant to companies large and small, engaged in strategy, business development, marketing, M&A and executive development. He is currently engaged with two companies developing in the Superyacht market in Palma-Mallorca. Alan is married with four children and enjoys boating, skiing, cars and golf and was awarded the CBE in 2004 for services to disabled people.

Tim Wates, BA Hons MBA - Non Executive Director/shareholder

Tim’s background is in the housing and construction industry. He commenced his career at Cazenove & Co. Ltd. in London and subsequently joined the family business, Wates Group. At Wates he has held various senior roles, mainly concentrating on finance and housing, and he is now Chairman of Wates Family Holdings. He is also a non-executive Director of Tampopo Ltd., a restaurant business; a school governor; and is closely involved with many of the Wates Family philanthropic trusts. Tim is married with four young children – he enjoys food and wine, as well as mountain-biking and most sport. He has an MBA from the Judge Business School, Cambridge University.

Julian Hill FCA - Finance Director

Julian is a finance director with quoted plc director experience at a number of companies who has added significant value to entrepreneurial businesses by managing growth, initiating change and turnaround including diversification, acquisitions, start-ups, mergers, disposals and eliminating surplus costs. Julian qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte Touche (London) where he was in the corporate finance department. Since then he has held senior management positions with a number of companies in a variety of industries including St Ives plc (a mid cap stock exchange quoted printing group), CSS Stellar (the largest UK AIM quoted sports marketing company) and Harper_Downie (a medium sized firm of architects).
