About Us
Sydenham, formerly known as Sippenham until the 18th Century became fashionable following the relocation of ‘The Crystal Palace’ in 1854. The demand for property in the area within this period explains the wealth of Victorian housing stock that still stands today.
Although Sydenham has changed somewhat over the last 200 years , much of the open green space has remained with fantastic Victorian housing stock. Of course, following in the footsteps of many a London suburb, Sydenham has seen new housing developments spring up ensuring a broad range of property available in the area.
Sydenham road runs through the heart of the area boasting various shops, cafe’s and food markets. Transport links are exceptional with Sydenham, Lower Sydenham, Sydenham Hill and Penge East stations serving the community, whilst the newly opened East London line operates from Sydenham station itself promoting the easy commute to London.
Sydenham is in demand, with young professionals and families enjoying the excellent schools, superb commuter links, and easy access to neighbouring Dulwich. Famous past residents include Lionel Logue (The King’s speech therapist), C.S Forrester (author), Ernest Shakleton (explorer), W.G Grace (cricketer).
