Pedder Proudly Sponsored the St Jude's Summer Fair

Published: 25/07/2022 By Pedder and St Judes

Pedder proudly sponsored the St Jude's 2022 Summer Fair.
In a world where people search the unusual and new, who knew we would all be so grateful for normality? And yet that's exactly how we all felt when we were able to hold the St Jude's Summer Fair earlier this year.
It had been three long years since we'd been able to open up the school gates and welcome the community into our wonderful school.
Led by the amazing Hellen, the planning and preparation had taken weeks, if not months. Many of the newer families in the school had not experienced a school fair before so it felt an extra special treat to share the delights with them. A constant steady stream of fun seekers came along and enjoyed lots of games and activities. Hook a duck, the tombola, splat the rat, in fact we were able to offer many of the classics for the young (and old!) to enjoy.
There was also some tasty treats on hand to tempt even the strictest of dieters! Delicious cakes provided by bakers, both amateur and professional. And for those without a sweet tooth, there were sausages and burgers plus some exceedingly savoury jerk chicken. Yum yum!
For those looking to grab a bargain, the ever popular bric-a-brac stall had an eclectic range of toys and homeware whilst the book stall was heaving at the start of the fair yet was almost empty by the end!
We were most grateful for the generous support from many local businesses. The ever popular raffle was only possible thanks to the vouchers and donations from Herne Hill shops and services; much of the food was either donated or provided at cost price by local butchers and supermarkets; and Pedder's estate agent boards drew in the crowds.
All in all an amazing event which managed to raise a whopping £3827 for our wonderful little school! And I think planning has already started for next year ...
